The Claudine Hellmuth Gesso is a thick opaque paint with a binder mixed in. It adds a subtle texture and is used to prepare surfaces for acrylic, watercolour and other paints. The Gesso is ideal for priming canvas, wood, metal, plastic, chipboard, paper and fabric prior to painting.
In recent years it has also become popular to use Gesso as a medium of its own in scrapbook layouts, cards, tags, and altered art. It’s great for achieving the shabby chic look, for highlighting selected areas of craft projects, for adding texture and for general use in upcycling projects.
